As a woman who's been a beauty pageant finalist and model before, I've experienced my own fair share of inappropriate sexual advancements online. Some are mildly unwelcoming, others are downright disgusting. If you've ever experienced such an experience before, then you'll probably know how offensive it can feel at times when such low-educated men talk to you in such a disrespectful way.
When I was single, I think I had more tolerance for such profanity and sickening attitude from men. Now that I am a mother of a little baby girl, I feel a big mix of feelings boiling within me - anger, discrimination, and utterly horrified.
I can't help but ask myself...
What kind of world did I bring my daughter into?
With all the emotions that were burning through my veins, I just had to make a video to get it all out of my chest and to tell all women out there - it is time to SPEAK UP.
You don't have to tolerate such nonsense and gross-talk from disrespectful men. It's time we let them know that it is NOT ok to talk to women in such a low, disgusting way. Don't you agree?
I definitely think so.
This is me - stepping up and voicing out for women to be treated with respect and equality!
This is the nature of online communications. Millions of people hiding behind their computers to connect. Except some of them are dorks parading as big shots. And some are men acting like little girls. And some are women being brazen when they’re super-shy in real life. But the one thing we know about online communications is that people can be whoever they want to be. With one amazing caveat — they’re never held accountable for their actions.
I want to do something revolutionary here and start making a change today.
You don't have to keep silent if you've been disrespected.
You can choose to put them in their place, tell them that the way they are talking to you is not acceptable. Tell them to learn how to respect you!
Alternatively, you can also choose to block or report these creeps to the customer service team of whichever platform they contacted you on. This will tell them indirectly that you do not and will not tolerate such idiotic behaviour. More than that, by you having the courage to do something about these predators, they will be taught a lesson not to continue in their ways and hurt other women!
Once you’ve read through this article, I’d love to hear from you.
