Everyone has experienced it at some point in their lives. Over worrying about the outcome of this and that, being paralysed over the fear that the decision they are about to make may not be the right one.
We hesitate. We think. We analyse. We freeze.
Hesitation can be good at times, as it allows us to take a moment to really think about what we are doing and process a situation; however, often it lingers on for too long and leaves us stuck in our path.
Hesitation can be the consequence of overanalysing a situation, the product of fear, or the outcome of low self-esteem. Regardless of the reason, the good news is, there are ways to overcome it and move forward with your life.
Here are four ways that has helped me push past that fear of hesitation every time.
Learning through video is more your thing? No problem. Watch this now:
#1 REDEFINE WHAT PERFECTION MEANS
Do you have a clear idea of what perfection means to you?
Because if you don't, every time you think you are ready, then something comes along and disturbs your "perfect" moment, does that mean you can't proceed to do what you initially planned to do?
If that's the case, then you will probably never ever take that first step.
Because as the Greek Philosopher Heraclitus once said,
Change is the only constant.
Don't wait for the perfect timing to do something or to try something new. Sometimes, you have to just do it when most of the odds seem to be in your favor.
#2 SHARE YOUR JOURNEY
Share your journey with others, whether with your colleagues or even through social media. You may be surprised at how you just might inspire others to follow in your footsteps.
Plus, you just might meet someone who is more than happy to become your new accountable buddy and you both can motivate each other to get things done and achieve your goals more smoothly.
#3 PLAY OUT THE WORST-CASE SCENARIO
Fear cripples you because you don't know what you're up against, but here's the thing - you can't fear what you already know is or might be coming your way if you're already prepared for it.
Once you know what's the worst-case scenarios, you can then plan for the appropriate contingency plans in case they do (if ever) pop up.
#4 GO WITH THE CUES OF THE UNIVERSE
Once you have a good success plan in place and have played out all the possible setbacks, then it's time to implement and put your plans into motion.
Don't let your mind scare you into fearing how things can't work out or how you'll fail.
Anytime you do have these fears creeping up, remind yourself you have already thought it through and reduced the possibility of anything unforeseen happening that could push you off track.
My dear friends, even if something does happen which is way beyond your control, then please know that no one can always control every single event in this world. That is simply part of life.
Learn to go with the flow. If you do get directed down a detour, who knows? You may just discover a whole new interesting path you never knew existed and may turn out to be even more magical than your intended destination.
