Whether it’s ending a #toxicrelationship, quitting a job that you know isn’t good for your #mentalwellbeing, or start a business, making big life changing decisions can be terrifying - So much so that we end up NOT taking any action at all.
If you can relate to this #fear, then try out the 5 tips that has helped me time again whenever I lack the #courage to do the things that is right for me: 📌1 Get clear on your fear Until you know exactly WHAT it is that you're scared of, you can’t start to take meaningful action. Instead of telling yourself that you’re scared of #rejection or worried about not being good enough, reflect deeper: Who are you scared of being rejected by? And why? What impact would that have on your life? 📌2 Picture the WORST case scenario Think about what would happen if every fear you have that’s related to your goal came true, what would happen then? Once you’ve written your answers, challenge your fears to identify how valid they really are. 📌3 Picture the BEST case scenario Now imagine what the very BEST case scenario would look like. What would your life look like if you took action on your goal and everything went right? How much more #joy would you have in your life? 📌4 Break it down into actionable steps Breaking your goal down into the smallest possible steps and making a list of to-dos is a super practical way to minimise #worry and apprehension. 📌5 #Takeaction It doesn’t matter where you start, just do one of the things on your list. because action cures fear. Know this: The people who you deem #successful or inspirational didn’t become those people because they lacked fear. They became those people in spite of feeling their fears. and I really hope that the tips in this post will help you to do the very same thing. If we’re REALLY honest with ourselves, most of us can probably agree that we have either one or all three of these #unhealthyhabits🫢
If we want to improve the quality of our lives and live to our fullest potential, we need to eliminate these 3 #habits: 📌1 Treating every day as though it’s “just another day” A good life always begins now, when you stop waiting for a better one. Practice living an #intentionallife and focus on our true #priorities — while getting rid of meaningless drama and distractions. This helps to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our lives. 📌2 Waiting to “find” something to be passionate about The key thing to realize is that almost ANY activity can move us if we let it. We don’t need some massive, life-engulfing passion to suddenly appear in our lives. Because real passion comes from WITHIN, and the source of passion in our lives may be as simple as having a job to do — a job that feeds our family, for example — and feeling really good about doing it right. If we just wait to somehow “find our passion” somewhere outside ourselves, we might wait an eternity. 📌3 Being too close and controlling every step of the way Rather than trying to control every outcome, we have to practice #acceptance. It doesn’t mean we don’t care about improving the reality of our lives; it is realizing that the only thing we really have control over is ourselves and our thoughts about everything else. This simple understanding is the foundation, and only with this foundation can there be peace of #mind and growth in the long run. Which one of the points above resonated the most with you? Did you know that WRITING by hand carries significant benefits over typing with a keyboard, especially when it comes to learning, remembering, and creativity?💡
Researchers from Norway have discovered exactly why that is the case by investigating the underlying neural networks involved in both writing and typing. They identified that when writing by hand, brain connectivity patterns are far more elaborate than when typewriting on a keyboard. Such widespread brain connectivity is known to be crucial for memory formation and for encoding new information and, therefore, is beneficial for learning. So, how can you use this knowledge to your advantage? Adopt the ‘rule of writing’ habit🖋️ The rule of writing says that if you want to clarify your thinking, remember something important, or communicate something clearly, write it down by hand. Doing so will help you slow down and think, which helps you internalize what you've written. Additionally, write as if you were going to communicate this in a message to another person and try to anticipate what questions the person reading it might have. This will allow you to clarify your thinking on the matter by anticipating those questions and give you the opportunity to do further research, if needed. Apart from managing #stress, which all of us face on different scales, here are 5 small tangible practices you can take starting today to drastically improve your #energy levels for 2024! 1 Move your body throughout the day Example: Be more active around the house, take the stairs instead of the lift, and stand instead of sit when working. Small changes, big effects! 2 Be mindful of your #screentime Try applying the “20-20-20 rule” to tackle tiredness. When working on a laptop, take an every 20 mins (set a timer), look at an object 20 feet away for 20 secs to give your eyes a chance to relax. 3 Practice good sleep hygiene This means having a regular #bedtimeroutine and making the room conducive for deep sleep. 4 Limit #caffeine (Don’t hate me!) When feeling tired, it is tempting to make a 3rd or 4th cup of coffee later in the day. However, drinking too much caffeine can have a paradoxical effect, leaving you #lethargic. Gradually (don’t make a drastic cut back) reduce the amount of caffeine in your diet until you find what works best for you. 5 Stay #hydrated Experts recommend that males consume 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of water daily and females 11.5 cups (2.7 liters). Not staying hydrated can cause #fatigue and irritability. Why Perspective Can Make Or Break You26/12/2023 #PERSPECTIVE is everything. Do you agree? The circumstances in which we’re born in impacts us to a certain extent, but for the bulk of how we build our lives, boils down to perspective and our beliefs in what is achievable or not.
It is easy to blame life, our family, our financial background, our level of education, and every other thing in our lives. Because when we blame others, we mentally free ourselves from taking responsibility to change anything. It isn’t our fault - right? But the thing about blaming is, it makes us #POWERLESS. It means people and things around us needs to CHANGE in order for us to SUCCEED. Imagine for a moment, how POWERFUL you would feel if you could take hold of your own life. Whenever I feel things aren’t going in my favour, here’s what helps me: Firstly, do a few rounds of deep BREATHING to calm my mind. Identify what I can or CAN’T change (and making the best of whatever resources I have at the moment!), then discipline my mind to focus on the things that ARE within my power to change. Lastly, plan out actionable steps to CHANGE and/or IMPROVE my situation. Sure, life’s a pain at times and things would be much easier if problems don’t exist. Mom was right when she said, “Be careful who you surround yourself with.” Although those #wordsofwisdom are usually handed out during adolescence, there's evidence that suggests we need to follow that advice into adulthood. Apparently, we’re still easily influenced by those around us.
We’d like to believe that each choice we make is based upon our independent assessment and best judgment. But, unfortunately, that’s not always the case. #Research shows that even as adults we’re prone to copying the #bodylanguage of a person we’re speaking with. Some #studies have concluded we experience the same emotions as the people around us and that we also mimic other people’s product choices. Not only that, being easily swayed means you're more inclined to bend to the will and wishes of others, often sacrificing what you want. Not only is that no fun at all, routinely falling in line behind other people will also destroy your #confidence.
