In this video, we’re gonna have a deeper look into the different forms of #WORRY and a simple, but super effective exercise that you can apply to keep #ANXIETY and worry at bay. When faced with uncertainty or challenging moments, our automatic response is almost always to start worrying. The problem with obsessive worrying, is that it clouds our judgement and adds unnecessary #stress onto ourselves, thereby impacting our #mentalwellbeing. A helpful exercise that can help with managing worry and anxiety is called the worry tree (or Worry Decision Tree). It is adapted from Gillian Butler and Tony Hope's book Managing Your Mind: The Mental Fitness Guide. Words I once heard from a WISE friend💡 Your boss might DEMAND something from you, your partner, child, parents or friends might request for your help, while bills and other responsibilities are demanding your IMMEDIATE attention 😵
With all that pulling you in so many directions, HOW to #cope??? Every time you start to feel #anxiety and #stress, here’s what you do: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⛔️1 Just STOP whatever you are doing ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💆🏻♀️2 Inhale DEEPLY for 4 seconds and EXHALE slowly for 4 seconds ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💡3 ANALYZE each task (and be REALLY CRITICAL and HONEST with yourself). For all of the requests, responsibilities or tasks in front of you, categorise them into either one of these 3 groups: a) Important + urgent b) Important + NOT urgent c) Can be cancelled OR delegated to someone else If you find yourself labelling EVERYTHING as “important + urgent”, then you’re DEFINITELY gonna feel stressed out of your mind all the time because it is IMPOSSIBLE that everything is life and death important AND urgent! Even learning how to #prioritise is a #skill in itself. Sounds easy, but it isn’t. But just like anything, if you practice often enough, it WILL become easier over time😊 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Just by doing this simple little exercise, it has helped to take a LOAD off my shoulder and enabled me to better #plan my day and be more focused in the work that I do.
