Does making #LIFECHANGING decisions make your head spin? 🤯 If yes, try this 3-step framework by #TonyRobbins to help you start making #toughdecisions quickly and with less stress:
📌 Step 1: Evaluate your options If you attempt to do everything in your head, or computer, your brain will end up LOOPING over the same things. Put everything on paper removes this #pressure and helps you #focus. Review each of your option’s upsides and downsides. As you think about the potential #consequences, ask yourself: a) What are the possible outcomes if I take this option? b) How important (on a scale of 0–10) is each upside/downside in terms of meeting my outcomes? c) What is the probability (0–100%) that the upside/downside will occur? d) What is the emotional benefit or consequence if this option were to happen? This is an especially important question for emotionally tough decisions such as those involving your relationship or children. e) After jotting down these answers, you’ll be able to eliminate some options from your list. 📌 Step 2: Mitigate the damage The reason we fear tough decisions is because of what could happen if the WRONG decision is made. In a #business, we could lose customers or even the business. In #relationships, it’s the difference between finding a passionate relationship or settling for less than we deserve. That’s why you must review all downsides in more detail. Brainstorm alternative ways to eliminate or reduce those downsides. 📌 Step 3: Resolve Based on the most probable consequences, select the option that provides the greatest certainty that you will meet your desired outcomes and needs. This'll help you beat #procrastination and avoid the deadliest decision of all: #INACTION Resolve that no matter what happens, this option will give you a WIN. Even if it ends up in #failure, you can choose to view it as a #learningexperience or a point to go in a different direction. The ability to find the #LESSON is an essential part of developing #innerstrength and making better decisions in the future. Best, Trish ➳ 💙 Want to make a successful CAREER CHANGE? Did you know that WRITING by hand carries significant benefits over typing with a keyboard, especially when it comes to learning, remembering, and creativity?💡
Researchers from Norway have discovered exactly why that is the case by investigating the underlying neural networks involved in both writing and typing. They identified that when writing by hand, brain connectivity patterns are far more elaborate than when typewriting on a keyboard. Such widespread brain connectivity is known to be crucial for memory formation and for encoding new information and, therefore, is beneficial for learning. So, how can you use this knowledge to your advantage? Adopt the ‘rule of writing’ habit🖋️ The rule of writing says that if you want to clarify your thinking, remember something important, or communicate something clearly, write it down by hand. Doing so will help you slow down and think, which helps you internalize what you've written. Additionally, write as if you were going to communicate this in a message to another person and try to anticipate what questions the person reading it might have. This will allow you to clarify your thinking on the matter by anticipating those questions and give you the opportunity to do further research, if needed. All of this will improve your understanding of the topic. Do you prefer typing or writing when it comes to learning? I’d love to read your thoughts on this so do share in the comments below. When you’re too ATTACHED to your work, it becomes a major part of your IDENTITY. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, maybe especially if your work is creative. You’re a writer, an editor, a photographer — it’s part of who you are. The danger is in letting it become all of who you are.
We humans tend to link our behavior, our performance, our #productivity, with our #selfworth when we obsess over work. It sounds ridiculous, but when my boss rejected my new filing system, it almost felt like she was rejecting me, as a person. On a larger scale, this level of emotional investment in your work can make the unfortunate event of a layoff even more harrowing. Losing your job can feel like losing your entire identity. Find yourself too emotionally ATTACHED to your work? Try the #strategies in this video now to preserve your sanity. Truly, Trish ➳ 💙 Want to make a successful CAREER CHANGE? 5 Less Obvious Signs Of Burnout14/1/2024 Does any of the 5 subtle signs feel relatable? There’s this feeling I get when I know something is…OFF. When I don’t want to talk to anyone or do anything other than sleep or listen to music.
All I have the capacity for is going to work, but I’m emotionally #exhausted by and disconnected from my job too. That experience has a name: #BURNOUT Some of these signs, were what I was experiencing recently, but I needed someone else—my #therapist—to name it for me. Identifying the signs of burnout early is critical since they can lead to BIGGER problems down the road. Especially when symptoms are subtle, they can add up and snowball often undetected. That’s why it’s so important that we build time into our routines to check in with ourselves and others, and stay attuned to our #wellbeing. Consistent self-check-ins — whether through #journaling, #meditating, working with a therapist, or simply pausing weekly and asking ourselves how we’re doing and answering honestly—can help us notice subtle changes in our #mentalhealth that we might miss otherwise, allowing us to intervene earlier, rather than waiting until things go off the rails. That intervention might look like taking a long weekend off, or saying no to social invitations so you can get some much-needed downtime. Of course, subtle (and not-so-subtle) signs of work burnout may very well mean you need to make a bigger change. If you’re doing what you can to implement #selfcare strategies and you still find yourself regularly exhausted and/or #overwhelmed by work, it might be time to consider finding a job that’s a better fit. Or, if that’s just not possible at the moment, perhaps you can see if there’s another source of #stress you can remove from your life to prevent your metaphorical mental candle from burning out. Do you agree? 🤫 In many companies, STRESS and anxiety, which can lead to BURNOUT, stem from factors like office politics, bickering, gossip and jealousy.
This may be exacerbated by a boss that is busy playing his own political games to ensure his career longevity, at times breaking rules he set, and leaving his subordinates to clean up the mess. Then there are supervisors who, instead of working themselves out of their jobs to give subordinates a chance to move up, feel threatened by good performers and drive them out of the organisation. So burnout is not the product of stressful work. Rather, the stress arises from an unconducive, UNSUPPORTIVE, or even hostile, environment. Employees are more likely to stay if they are happy, do not feel threatened and value the organisation as a place worth working in, where they can grow and thrive. Drop a like if you agree and share your thoughts below if you can relate. Happy Tuesday everyone🌻 Truly, Trish ➳ 💙 Want to make a successful CAREER CHANGE? Do you live by ROUTINES or PRACTICES?🤔 #Routines are often critical to #success. Breaking a goal down into daily activities and then consistently performing those activities, day in and day out. Until something disrupts that routine…
The more rigidly you follow a routine, the more likely a single broken link will disrupt the entire chain. How can we keep that from happening? The key, is to turn a routine into a #PRACTICE. Routine: Going for a run every day at 05:00am. [If it rains, your routine is ruined] ✅ Practice: Exercising every day [If it is raining, you can change it up by going to a gym or doing workouts at home] Routine: Eating an apple every morning. [Since you didn’t go for a run, so you sleep in, neglect eating anything or hydrating your body] ✅ Practice: Eating healthy [No more apples? You change it up by eating something else that is also healthy] Routine: Holding an all-hands Zoom meeting every day at 09:00am. [If the internet is down, the meeting is missed, you wait for the next day] ✅ Practice: Whether the meeting is held or not, you regularly check in with your team to see if they need help, guidance, or a quick word of encouragement. When something happens to mess up your routine, don’t dwell on the WHAT, think about the WHY and HOW. Focus on the goal your routine helps you achieve and be open to the WAY it is executed to get there. Routines are NOT who you are, they are simply what you CHOOSE to do. A kink in your routine cannot change who you are, and more importantly - who you hope to become, unless you let it. Have a great week ahead🌻 Truly, Trish ➳ 💙 Want to make a successful CAREER CHANGE? 5 Types of Nonverbal Communication - Part 214/11/2023 In my last post (part 1), we learned 5 different types of #NONVERBALCOMMUNICATION💡 In this post (part 2), we’re gonna have a look at 5 more that you can use to up your game in communicating with others.
💡 1 #Haptics (Touch) Touch can be used to communicate affection, familiarity, #sympathy, and other #emotions. 💡 2 #Appearance Our choice of clothing, hairstyle, and other appearance factors. #Research on #colorpsychology shows that different colors can evoke different moods. Appearance can also alter physiological reactions, judgments, and interpretations. Researchers have found that appearance can even play a role in how much people earn🤑 Attractive people tend to #earnmore and receive other fringe benefits, including higher-quality jobs. 💡 3 Chronemics (#Punctuality) The role 'time' plays during communication. How people interpret time can be personal, cultural, or have to do with their power or #status. If a friend is late, maybe you'll feel annoyed by their lack of #timemanagement. Now imagine if your boss showed up 15 minutes late to a meeting. You might be more understanding of their busy schedule. 💡 4 #Physiological responses Your body naturally sends out nonverbal signals that are nearly impossible to control. This includes nervous sweating, blushing, or tearing up. 💡 5 #Artifacts (Objects, etc) Objects and images are also tools that can be used to communicate nonverbally. Eg: On an online forum, you might select an avatar to represent your identity and to communicate information about who you are and the things you like. Personally, the point about appearances made me really think. What about you? Happy Tuesday everyone🌻 Truly, Trish ➳ 💙 Want to make a successful CAREER CHANGE?
