Although it’s impossible to predict the future, we can however, learn how to manage the UNCERTAINTIES that come along with #change.
The #WilliamBridges Transition Model provides a roadmap through the emotional landscape of change. The model identifies three phases: ↠ Ending What Currently Is ↠ The #Transition Zone ↠ The New Beginning As you move from one ending, and just before you start a new beginning, you will find yourself in a transition period, or the ‘neutral zone’. In between a period of change, it takes time for the transition to occur. During the transition zone, you can feel a lot of mixed emotions. It can feel confusing, frightening, and overwhelming. You may feel #selfdoubt, unbalanced, lost, or numb. But guess what? That’s completely normal. Uncertainty is a natural part of any adjustment period. Check out these 5 tips to better cope with and #embracechange. Truly, Trish ➳ 💙 Want to make a successful CAREER CHANGE? 5 Types of Nonverbal Communication - Part 214/11/2023 In my last post (part 1), we learned 5 different types of #NONVERBALCOMMUNICATION💡 In this post (part 2), we’re gonna have a look at 5 more that you can use to up your game in communicating with others.
💡 1 #Haptics (Touch) Touch can be used to communicate affection, familiarity, #sympathy, and other #emotions. 💡 2 #Appearance Our choice of clothing, hairstyle, and other appearance factors. #Research on #colorpsychology shows that different colors can evoke different moods. Appearance can also alter physiological reactions, judgments, and interpretations. Researchers have found that appearance can even play a role in how much people earn🤑 Attractive people tend to #earnmore and receive other fringe benefits, including higher-quality jobs. 💡 3 Chronemics (#Punctuality) The role 'time' plays during communication. How people interpret time can be personal, cultural, or have to do with their power or #status. If a friend is late, maybe you'll feel annoyed by their lack of #timemanagement. Now imagine if your boss showed up 15 minutes late to a meeting. You might be more understanding of their busy schedule. 💡 4 #Physiological responses Your body naturally sends out nonverbal signals that are nearly impossible to control. This includes nervous sweating, blushing, or tearing up. 💡 5 #Artifacts (Objects, etc) Objects and images are also tools that can be used to communicate nonverbally. Eg: On an online forum, you might select an avatar to represent your identity and to communicate information about who you are and the things you like. Personally, the point about appearances made me really think. What about you? Happy Tuesday everyone🌻 Truly, Trish ➳ 💙 Want to make a successful CAREER CHANGE? Did you know that the components of face-to-face #communication is 55% NONVERBAL, 38% vocal, and 7% words ONLY😮 If #nonverbalcommunication plays a vital part in how we communicate and build trust with others, how #mindful are we really of our nonverbal communication cues?
Today let’s have a look at 5 important ones: 💡 1 #Facialexpressions A smile, frown, or grimace tells a lot about their mood and how the subsequent #conversation will go. 💡 2 #Kinesics Or #gestures, are conscious #bodymovements like waving, pointing, and giving a thumbs up or down. One's culture typically determines what gestures are socially acceptable and which are rude. 💡 3 #Paralinguistics Or vocalics, refers to the aspects of verbal communication that aren’t the words themselves. Eg: Your #toneofvoice, loudness, and pitch. Think about all the ways you use the phrase “I’m fine.” If you say it quietly, you might be feeling down, but if you say it forcefully, someone might detect your defensiveness. 💡 4 #Proxemics Refers to how NEAR something is. IMPORTANT! Human beings take #personalspace seriously. Everyone interprets physical distances in interactions differently based on our social and cultural expectations, personal preferences, and type of relationship we have with another. 💡 Gaze Our #eyecontact is a MASSIVE factor in nonverbal communication because it can give clues to how we feel. Which of these 5 do you manage really well? Do share with me in the comments below. Wishing you a fab day ahead🌻 Trish ➳ 💙 Want to make a successful CAREER CHANGE? #Effectivecommunication is all about exchanging ideas. But sometimes, there is a need to PERSUADE others to see things from your perspective - but HOW?🤫 Whether you’re trying to persuade a loved one for their own good, or a new manager who is trying to influence your team to understand and support your decisions and policies, try these 5 tips:
1 Know your audience and their interests This could mean using a mellow tone of voice with a reserved person to put them at ease or emphasizing how doing things your way will save a certain person time. 2 Maintain a sincere tone When you demonstrate #honesty, people let their guard down and become more receptive. Even if you think your idea is best, a pushy approach only drives people away. 3 Use positive and engaging #bodylanguage How you say something is just as important as what you have to say. Some #nonverbalcommunication techniques include uncrossing your arms, making #eyecontact, leaning toward the person speaking, and using a passionate tone. 4 Get to the point 5 Ask detailed questions Asking questions shows a genuine interest in someone’s needs or concerns. What other strategies have help you to effectively persuade others? Do let me know in the comments below🌻 Truly, Trish ➳ 💙 Unsure how to make a CAREER CHANGE successfully? Which one are you? 🤫 Perhaps you know what it’s like to be taken advantage of, or to have your #kindness seen as an invitation for future exploitation.
It’s not your fault❕ You were simply unable to manage your need to be liked, which is embedded as deeply in your software as your need for food and water. Another cause might be your personality. Some of us rank high on ‘AGREEABLENESS’, which means you hate and avoid #conflict. Whatever the reason, ask yourself: Are your sacrifices inspired by pure kindness? Or are they tainted by an element of fear? I’m not suggesting for us to be #selfish, but instead, that we keep a close check on our REAL motivations behind our behaviour. When we are truly being ‘nice’ we should be operating from a place of #compassion and kindness, not from a place of fear and #weakness. Of course, this is real life and there are going to be times when we bite our tongue, times when we keep quiet for the sake of keeping the peace, times when we choose to let it go rather than make a point of it. But the next time you find yourself in a situation where you feel uncomfortable about defining your #boundaries, saying no, or to #speakup – ask yourself honestly: "Is this about being kind and compassionate or is this about me being scared to voice my own truth? And what – if any – are the bigger ramifications of me not doing so?" I’d love to hear your thoughts?
