Where do we get the sense of power to think that merely EXPECTING others to behave the way we want them to will make them behave that way? And what entitles us to get angry at other people when they fail to meet our expectations?
The answer, of course, is NOTHING 🤭 If we haven’t expressed our expectations, we don’t have the right to feel resentment when they are not met. Even when we express our expectations, we have to take into account that people might be unable or unwilling to meet them, and that’s okay. This also goes the other way – others may have expectations of you, but it is up to you if you decide to meet them. If you’re prone to having great expectations, take a little time to reflect on the questions presented in this video the next time you feel your expectations rise.
